Strata is distilled from a series of textural studies recorded over a 100-day period at the beginning of 2021. Excerpts from each recording were originally used to generate short audio reactive video pieces. The source audio material is the result of an iterative practice where explorative performances with a single instrument were recorded daily. In assembling the album, textures with vector-like qualities were paired with static textures. Studies recorded over different days have been combined, folded onto themselves and stacked in an attempt to create a variety of focal points for listening. The album loosely follows the chronology of the source recordings.
